Novel “Weekly” Update #4
It is, admittedly, a bit incorrect to refer to this as a “weekly” update, considering it’s been two weeks since the last of these logs. I lost a week of writing to my poor mental health, although thankfully I spent some of that time celebrating birthdays and bonding with my loved ones.
Thankfully, last week, I was able to mostly restore my usual writing rhythm—I’ve also made numerous decisions regarding the overall course of the novel, and its outline, plot, and worldbuilding.
Today, the first draft will exceed 40k words! Was hoping to be closer to 50k at least by now, but hey, this is still running at a good clip for the time being. I’ve decided to focus somewhat more on Act 3, and the Epilogue, as that part of the story has become a lot more solid in my head now that I’ve written some of the beginning and middle parts. At time of writing I’m working on the very first chapter of Act 3.
The more I write, the more the progress begins to feel real. This is slowly becoming one of the first projects in my life I can be truly proud of, for my own merit. Even if it winds up kind of sucking in the end. It’s my first novel, after all.
